Section 17: Recruitment Chairman


Of the utmost importance is the assurance that Tennessee Kappa is identifying and recruiting the highest caliber prospects. It is the Recruitment Chairman’s responsibility to ensure that Tennessee Kappa’s recruitment efforts are not only the most competitive on campus, but are competitive with any peer university.


Tennessee Kappa is a four-year commitment as an active member, thus all active members are expected to be active in recruitment.


The Recruitment Chairman will:


  1. Plan and coordinate all recruitment activities of the fraternity to ensure they are within budget.


  1. NOT overdraw the recruitment account; if overdrawn, the Recruitment Chairman will be fined $150. Should the recruitment account be overdrawn more than twice in one semester, the Eminent Archon must remove the Recruitment Chairman and appoint a new Recruitment Chairman.


  1. Not commit the chapter to any contract, whether written or verbal or otherwise, for the amount of $500.00 or more without specific approval of the Eminent Archon.


  1. Prepare a budget by the end of the fall/spring semesters in preparation for spring/fall recruitment.


  1. Plan summer events before Spring Break.


  1. Appoint four (4) Recruitment Captains, one each for: West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee and Out-of-State. These captains will only receive funds if they come OUT of the recruitment budget and have no spending authority.


  1. Chair the Recruitment Committee.


  1. During the fall semester, search the campus for transfer students and other potential members who did not join a fraternity in the fall and are looking to rush in the spring.


  1. Ensure all recruitment events are in full compliance with Minerva’s Shield and the University of Tennessee Interfraternity Council.


  1. Perform all duties set forth in the National Laws, Title VII, Article 53, Section M.
